The sovereignty of interpretation and phrases in regard to the presence of American troops after WW II has experienced many different aspects until today. From the academical historian’s text to the civic discourse of memory, the era from 1945 to 1998 (Augsburg’s US era) has become the subject of most diverse themes. The historical side unfortunately neglected many military components while preferring social contemplations.
A well-known Augsburg citizen who has been, and still is, connected with Augsburg’s Americans in a very special and distinctive way, has written his entirely personal discourse on the book “Augsburg und Amerika” (editor: University of Augsburg) , published by Wißner Verlag in 2013. Ten years later, it was published in the “Neue Augsburger Rundschau” (a digital blogspot by cultural activist Arno Löb) and shall now find a cooperative echo on the website of the “Amerika in Augsburg e.V.” society., This publication is made without any responsibility of the society in regard to the contents; a formless approval has been granted by the author, who is inclined towards the society.
